FRIDAY 23RD OCTOBER 2009
A sad day as we had to say 'Kafikenipo Mukwai' - travel well, goodbye, to Mr Mulozi and Mrs Mukonde at a special assembly this morning. They were driven to Heathrow Airport by Sandie & Pat Collins, with a little detour via Stonehenge and Salisbury to get in a final bit of sight-seeing before flying back home to Zambia.

THURSDAY 22ND OCTOBER 2009
The PSA Halloween Disco was a great success and the pumpkin competition went very well with Mrs Mukonde judging the entries.

WEDNESDAY 21ST OCTOBER 2009
Teaching more Zambian games today, and sharing the playground with produce from the school's gardening endevours which went on sale at the end of school.
In the evening there was a great social gathering of staff and governors with our Zambian guests to celebrate the success of another exchange visit.

TUESDAY 20TH OCTOBER 2009
An International Exchange Workshop was arranged in the School hall today. Several schools were showcasing their exchange projects with their partner schools and parents were invited to come and browse the stands on show.

SATURDAY 17TH & SUNDAY 18TH OCTOBER 2009
A very busy week-end with lots to see and do. Mr & Mrs Simpson took our guests to Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Ham Hill, Milton Abbas, Sturminster Newton and Wells Cathedral! There was also Cary Carnival on Saturday night - and a visit to the Bishop's Palace in Wells for Mr Mulozi with Mrs Honour.

FRIDAY 16TH OCTOBER 2009
Travelling up to London by train, Mrs Stephens Mrs Mukonde and Mr Mulozi met up with former Bruton Primary teacher Jeremy Leicester to pick up the prestigious International School Award at the Brewery Conference Centre. Many schools from all over the country attended the awards, organised by the British Council. The Awards were presented by well known BBC News Presenter George Alagiah. There was even time for a bit of sight-seeing before returning home!

THURSDAY 15TH OCTOBER 2009
A special day with the Harvest services taking place in the school hall. This was an ideal opportunity for Mrs Mukonde to cook some traditional Zambian dishes for our parents, staff and children to try. It certainly went down very well, with the children polishing off the last of the food!

WEDNESDAY 14TH OCTOBER 2009
Working in several classes today, looking at biographies. Mr Mulozi and Mrs Mukonde took time out to watched Reception playing traditional playground games, and taught groups of children some more African playground games.

TUESDAY 13TH OCTOBER 2009
This morning Mr Mulozi took a lesson in Miss Giles' class while Mrs Mukonde visited the Home Economics department at Sexey's School. In the afternoon they taught groups of children in Year 5/6 how to play African games. They really enjoyed learning INSOLO, a game similar to ludo, with Mr Mulozi, and LENGU, a chanting game, with Mrs Mukonde. Rules of the games will be posted on the website soon for children to try at home!

MONDAY 12TH OCTOBER 2009
After a really great week-end, Mr Mulozi and Mrs Mukonde worked in the Year 3 classes to start off the project on flags.

SATURDAY 10TH & SUNDAY 11TH OCTOBER 2009
A trip to the seaside was arranged on Saturday, with Mr & Mrs Stephens. It was a lovely sunny day, a bit chilly, but warm enough to enjoy tasting the local seafood on the sea front at Weymouth & Lyme Regis.
Sunday started with a leisurely morning and Sunday Lunch, followed by a trip to Montacute House and the local church.

FRIDAY 9TH OCTOBER 2009
The Welcome Assembly at 1.00pm was followed by the opening of our new Woodland Walk.
A plaque was unveiled by Chair of Governors Mr Sean O'Connor, dedicating the walk to Julianna Lulembo,
first Headteacher to visit Bruton Primary from Mine Basic.
A tour of the school followed for our guests, and after school there was a Wardrobe Sale organised
by our wonderful PSA. A very busy and enjoyable day.
